Amazon is looking to launch a pilot program in Mexico that seeks to create a team that develops
new solutions supported “digital currencies.”

According to an employment posting, Jeff Bezos’ multinational firm was on the hunt in the
week for a Software Development Manager for the division of “Digital and Emerging
Payments.” the work role has been reportedly filled because the offer is not any longer
available as of press time.
Amazon stated within the job ad that the new payment product is going to be deployed
on an initial stage in Mexico. One part of the outline reads as follow:
The role requires an expert in computing or engineering, with experience managing
the delivery of distributed software systems. Moreover, Amazon clarifies that it expects
to create a tech team to create payment solutions that focus on “emerging markets.”
The chosen person must be based in Seattle, Washington. Also, it’s not mandatory
to possess any specific blockchain or crypto-related background.
Amazon New CEO’s Relationship With the Blockchain Technology
Amazon just appointed Andy Jassy because the new CEO, after Jeff Bezos stepped
down from the role. In fact, since a while ago, Jassy had been showing an interest in
blockchain technology and exploring it to adopt solutions for brand spanking new
payment options. Jassy was the CEO of Amazon Web Services at the time.
So far, the e-commerce giant has not publicly addressed its plans on deploying this
upcoming digital currency solution in Mexico. However, the move comes within the
wake of mainstream companies’ announcements associated with bitcoin (BTC) investments
or crypto adoption generally.
Recently, Elon Musk’s company Tesla announced during a U.S. Securities and Exchange
Commission (SEC) Form 10-k filing that the firm had purchased $1.5 billion worth of bitcoin.
On February 11, as news.Bitcoin.com reported, payments giant Mastercard revealed that it's
preparing to permit a variety of cryptocurrencies to maneuver through its network directly.
